Our 5 lb "CVG+" Substrate is a proprietary blend designed specifically for manure-loving species and provides a mineral-rich environment. It comes sealed, sterilized and ready to use for growing mushrooms.

Ingredients

Every 5 lb bag is scientifically balanced:

• Coir & Vermiculite: We use triple-washed, low-salt coconut coir and high-grade vermiculite to create a sponge-like matrix that holds hydration for longer.

• Worm Castings: Organic worm castings provide the nitrogen and biological "kick" that manure-loving mushrooms need to produce thick, meaty stems.

• Minerals (Azomite, Gypsum, Oyster Shells): 

  • Azomite provides 70+ trace minerals that prevent aborts and help grow more resilient mushrooms.

  • Gypsum provides calcium which strengthens cell walls and fruiting bodies.

  • Oyster Shells act as a slow-release pH buffer, keeping the substrate slightly alkaline to fight off "Trich" and other molds.

Several Ways to Grow.

This bag is designed for total flexibility. Once you’ve colonized your grain spawn, you decide how to finish:

1. Fruit-in-Bag: Perfect for space-savers. Just mix your colonized grain directly into the bag, seal it up, and harvest right from the top.

2. Monotub or Shoeboxes: Use this as your bulk substrate in Monotubs or Shoeboxes. We recommend a 1:1 to a 1:3 ratio of grain to substrate. 1:1 for faster growth and a bigger pinset. 1:3 for thicker, larger mushrooms.

3. The Shotgun Chamber: For those who prefer the SGFC method, our substrate holds its structure and moisture perfectly when spawned to bins.

4. Outdoor Beds: Want to go "low-tech"? Use this substrate to start a patch in your garden. The organic worm castings and minerals help your mushrooms thrive in a natural outdoor ecosystem.

5. Martha Tent: The added vermiculite and oyster shells help maintain moisture levels even in high-airflow environments.
